Changes are afoot with the SC Jewellery empire!

I'm feeling like I don't have time to even breathe at the minute  I currently work as a childminder but in October last year I decided to have a complete change and do something I've wanted to do since I was 17....I'm now training to become a driving instructor!  The training is very time consuming and intensive.

I'm also going through some changes with SC Jewellery.  I've recently branched out into to doing children's jewellery making parties, children's jewellery and children's jewellery making kits.  This all comes under a new business name....Princess Sparkles.  I have a new Facebook page and website.  It's going quite well so far and I have some Spring/Summer fairs coming up which I'm attending.

Not one to be sitting around twiddling my thumbs for more than a minute I'm also starting a range of handpainted/decorated wooden products such as fridge magnets, door hangers, name plaques, trinket boxes etc!

Anyone got any suggestions for adding an extra 10 hours to a day?!

A flash of inspiration!

I had a flash of inspiration the other day when ordering yet another stylus for my son's Nintendo DS.  I wondered if there was any way of attaching the stylus to the console.  He has a dangly Professor Leyton on his console (like a mobile phone charm).  There is a small gap on the stylus so I thought there must be a way of doing this.  Here's what I've come up with....

These are now available to order via my Facebook page.  They come with the stylus as well and I can personalise them with names.  No more hunting down the back of the sofa for a missing stylus.

Been very busy with preparing for the wedding fayre this coming Sunday.  Really excited about it.  Will post some pics and updates after the event.

It's nearly Friday! :o)

Monday again, where does the weekend disappear to??!!

Well, it's Monday again.  I'm sure the weekends are passing by more quickly than ever!

I've had a couple of custom orders to work on over the weekend and I've just finished one off.  It was a special request from a previous customer - a bracelet for her mother who had unfortunately just lost her brother.  It's made up of Swarovski pearls and crystals, sterling silver spacers and clasp and the finishing touch is a sterling silver angel charm.

The other piece I'm working on is a sparkly pink headband for a 3 year old to wear at a christening.  Pic to follow shortly.

A Craft Forum member has recently set up a new website for crafters to showcase their work.  It's free to sign up and non-crafters are encouraged to sign up to as there are links and details to the designers should they wish to purchase any items.  The site is called Crafty-Bitz.  This is a fab idea, like a 24/7 craft fair!  Please take a look, sign up and spread the word!

Hope you all have a great week! x

Don't you just love days off :o)

Well, I have a few days off work starting from today so aside from meeting up with some friends for lunch I'm hoping to get some more jewellery made for the wedding fayre on 20th February.  I made another tiara last night and I was really pleased with how it turned out.  The pics never do the designs justice, they're so much more sparkly in real life.  I'm hoping to get someone to model for me and have some professional pics taken to use on my website.

And here's another tiara which I made the other day.

Off now for a cuppa and to walk the dog.  Scamp joined the family in October last year.  He's a bichon/springer spaniel cross, full of fun and character!

Enjoy your day, everyone x

Going back to my roots!

Better late than never I guess.....Happy New Year everyone!

I first started jewellery making about 7 years ago doing tiaras and wedding jewellery.  I've missed doing bridal accessories so much that I decided before Christmas that with having a bit more time on my hands I'd go back to doing tiaras and wedding accessories.  I've  only just started getting back into it so I've not got many designs as yet but here are a few examples of my work....

You can view more of my designs on my SC Tiaras and Wedding Accessories page on Facebook.  I'm also working like crazy to get my SC Jewellery website back up and running and a website for my wedding accessories.  I'll update my Blog when it's all finished.

Christmas is coming!

Wow, it's been ages since I updated my Blog, been so busy!

I had a flash of inspiration the other day whilst tidying through an old box of craft supplies and started playing around with some wire and beads.  This is what I came up with....

I posted some pics on my SC Jewellery page on Facebook and was amazed with the response I got!  So far I've had 2 definite orders (one for 3 decs and one for 12 decs!) and a possible order for another 5 decs.  I've ordered some more supplies and should have snowflakes and icicles available very soon, along with some decs with Christmas charms hanging from them.

I have quite a few events coming up soon as well....a Christmas Fayre down on Douglas Quay (11th December), an open evening at the hair salon I go to (I was invited to attend with some of my jewellery), a charity event at a local hotel in November, a Christmas Fayre at our local Town Hall and hopefully I'll have a table at Jamie's school Christmas Fayre.  I'm working on lots more Christmas decs so that I can offer them for sale at some of these events.  Busy, busy, busy!

I absolutely love Christmas and I'm already getting into the spirit of it with making these decorations!

Hope everyone is well! x

Craft Market.

I'm very excited as I got the booking form and details about the local craft market being held during the Summer.  I'm hoping it'll do well and will bring me lots more business and get my products known.  It'll be the first time I put my new designs on sale so hopefully they'll be well received.  I've had lots of positive comments about them when I posted them on my SC Jewellery fan page on Facebook so fingers crossed!

Spring is definitely here.....glorious day here on the Isle of Man, sunshine and warmth really makes you smile :o)

I'm still working on my website but I've got so much on at the minute I just haven't had time to get it all finished.

Here's another charm style bracelet.  I sat up until midnight making this last night but I'm pleased with how it's turned out.  The pretty dragonfly charm makes a nice finishing touch.

Charming.

Despite my sore fingers I'm loving making these charm style bracelets and working with sterling silver wire. They're very time consuming but the finished product is just so sparkly. I'm really chuffed cos my Amethyst Dream bracelet sold more or less as soon as I showcased it on my Facebook page. Anyway, I've been working on another today....this time made with black, ruby red and garnet Czech glass beads, sterling silver oval twist beads and dainty little sterling silver coil drops (which I made myself as well).

I bought a fab book on wire and beading techniques yesterday in Waterstones so I've got lots of new ideas floating around in my head....so much so that I couldn't sleep properly last night!

Feel free to comment on my designs. I'm a member of a craft forum and have some really lovely, heartening comments on my Amethyst Dream bracelet. I've also had an offer to display some of my designs from someone opening a shop over in England. Things are looking positive and exciting :o)

Amethyst Dream bracelet

This is the first time I've made a piece which involves such a lot of work with wires, wrapped loops and attaching crystals/beads by hand.....my hands are now like pin cushions but I'm really pleased with this design! This is the first piece in my Spring/Summer collection and as promised yesterday I've attached a pic. Gorgeous colours for the Summer. Please feel free to comment or buy if you like it! :o) Items can be purchased from my website or my Facebook fan page.

Busy, busy, busy!

At the minute I'm working on some new designs and making some improvements to my website....www.scjewellerydesigns.co.uk. I'll give followers a sneaky preview before I add them to the site and my Facebook page (SC Jewellery if anyone wants to become a fan!). I'm going to be adding lots more earring designs, fabric covered beads and long lariat style necklaces.

I've also been contemplating brooches....they seem to be coming back into fashion so I'm maybe gonna make a couple and see what reaction I get to them.

And, although I was going to stay away from tiaras I've had a few enquiries from people asking if I'll be doing them again.....looks like I'm going to give in!

Managed to get back on the treadmill yesterday for the first time in a week! Bit sore today but not too bad.

My Special Occasion Range

Been real busy the last week or so with lots of orders and creating my Special Occasion Jewellery range.....my range of handmade Swarovski crystal and pearl jewellery designed specifically with proms, weddings and other special occasions in mind. I have four designs so far and, if I do it right, pics are attached with this post! Feel free to comment on the designs....positive and negative comments are welcome as it all helps me to improve my work.

My eldest boy celebrated his 16th birthday yesterday!
